A longtime member of the organization’s HR team, Al Majed joined GBM in 2013, and as the new VP of HR, he will handle all HR related activities across the organization, with a particular focus on upskilling and preparing employees for the future, while continuing to enhance the employee experience. He replaces Shawki Hussain, who has successfully led the people agenda of GBM from its infancy in 1990 to date and been a driving force in ensuring the organization is an employer of choice.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shawki on behalf of all the GBM board members and employees for his stellar contribution and loyalty over the past 30 years, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Jalal Mohammed Jalal, Honorary Chairman, GBM.
During his tenure, Shawki developed a dynamic GBM workforce across the region, and supported in building a talent pool comprising of technology experts and sales teams who effectively tapped into the needs of the markets they operated within.
Al Majed’s appointment coincides with GBM’s 30th anniversary, and while the company is committed to the region’s technological aspirations and is invested in preparing businesses for the future, Al Majed is planning to do the same for GBM’s employees.
“As a member of the team for the past seven years, I’ve seen the transformative journey GBM has been on first hand, and under Shawki’s mentorship, I was able to work on developing programs internally that would ensure that our people are prepared for the business environment of the future,” said Al Majed. “We have been able to shift our focus from being predominantly transactional to focusing on activities that enhance the employee experience through the use of technology, and as a company that is supporting the digital transformation of the region, we are in a perfect position to continue to do so internally for our own people.”
Prior to joining GBM, Al Majed held various HR positions with leading organizations in the region such as BNP Paribas, DHL and Investcorp. Al Majed holds a degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds in the UK and has a number of professional qualifications from leading institutions including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and London Business School in leadership and HR management.
